Re: The Official Automotive Thread Version the Second
It's just art, basically. And BMW is just showing people that they're thinking outside the box. They're right, too. Cars really don't need a body of sheetmetal. It's just aesthetics and weather protection.
In other words, this is just pretentious faggotry in car form. |

Read some rumors that the new Camaro may have that cylinder disabling tech. Been seeing 30mpg or a little over 30mpg from the V8.

Re: The Official Automotive Thread Version the Second
The old Camaro V8 was near 30 MPG, but cyclinder disabling tech would help even more. Not sure why that isn't used more often, it's been around for decades.

Now a lot of Dodge/Chrysler and GM V6s and V8s have the feature. The C6 would have had it, but the engineers said that the exhaust note sounded so fucking awful when on 4 cylinders that they canned the idea.

The Camaro? Well, can't help you if you don't like the design. But it looks awful because its a picture of a test mule interior.

It being a test mule doesn't change anything. The shape of the instrument dash and the steering wheel alone look fucking stupid.

WTF, why are they testing the Camaro on the Nurburgring in the first place?

Re: The Official Automotive Thread Version the Second
Why does anyone test their performance car on the Nurburgring? Because if you fine tune it on one of the most grueling tracks in the world, you've got yourself a dandy handling machine.

Re: The Official Automotive Thread Version the Second
I think the overall design is good, I really like it. I think it looks terrible in that shot.
We'll get a better look when they debut the production version in September at Indy's Back at the Brickyard event.

Re: The Official Automotive Thread Version the Second
The design is going to be very similar to the concepts, overall. Obviously without all the brushed nickel and whatnot and it will be more usable. But the overall design concept will remain.

No, its still pretty heavily under wraps. All spyshots are exterior ones wrapped in vinyl and tape.

That interior shot is not from that same car. The black car is an SS test mule.

It's gonna suck, they're messing with the front lights. The back end will probably still be too bulky looking.

If the interior doesn't look disgusting in person, and they manage to deliver on ~30mpg fuel economy, I may be getting the new Camaro.

APR has upgraded their Stage 3 kit for the GTI, makes around 482 bhp
I'm going to go big turbo once I pay most of my car off.
