According to Motor Trend, the ZR1 is only the 6th best driver's car. When you have an 638hp beast that only weighs 3400 lbs, of course it's going to be scarier to drive than a 167hp Miata around a corner.

White is a new color for the ZR1 Looks really nice, IMO. I would still get a Black or a Cyber Gray Vette, though.

I don't like chrome wheels in general but the ZR1 in particular colors can pull it off. Personally I would love to get competition grey wheels on a black ZR1.

Chrome + White looks godly on a ZR1. I never really liked white Vettes but that ZR1 looks amazing.

I don't understand (in relevance to the competition) why they only chose the 135i and not an M3/M6

How does a 135i handle compare to an M3/M6?

Where as the 135i's not a paultry handling car by any means, it won't have the same M sport suspension setup/tuning the M3/M6 will have. The 1 series also isn't really part of the BMW Motorsport umbrella - I also feel it's design will harm it in the standings, that terrible Bangle bastardisation of the 3 series cropped down to a smaller - akward - frame. I'm still reading through the article, maybe they equipped the 135i with the factory M Supsension add-on.

Edit: 9th, somewhat not suprised, seems alot of their problems with it are from what I thought might be a problem.

man that ZR1, what a beast of an automobile. Chevy should put that bitch in GT1, that would eat MC12s alive.

Wasn't the C6.R in GT1 for the longest time, moving down to GT2 with a ZR1-based car for better competition?

the GT1 class is obsolete IIRC in the FIA GT. Same with the Prototype classes.

Everyone is using this pathetic "recession" as an excuse to get out of motorsport and save more money to flood their pockets.

A single person in a regular household won't feel anything. A huge corporation would.

that was a great fight. I wish AMLS and FIA GT weren't so focused on endurance racing, and had a more static, sprint based schedule available.

Because of the nature of endurance style racing (reliability vs. pure speed), more innovations have crossed over to production models compared to sprint style racing over, say, just two hours.

So basically endurance racing is probably a better investment for the manufactures since it has more potential to yield new innovations that will eventually increase efficiency in their production models.

I tried to watch WTCC and BTCC for that type of close fighting action, but it quickly degrades into pathetically amateur racing, and alot of dirty driving. It's not very fun to watch at all.

Yes. All the other manufacturers pulled support, they were the only ones still backing a team. Everyone else in ALMS was privately owned and backed.

Autoblog tests Corvette ZR1's launch control!

Quote:
The Corvette is by no means the first sports car to get launch control, but judging from our first impression of it this week, it may well be the best system out there.

Unlike a certain Japanese competitor, General Motors' Corvette chief Tadge Juechter made it eminently clear this week that use of the car's launch control will in no way kill your warranty. In fact, he explained that while a highly skilled driver could potentially beat the launch control system by a bit, the vast majority of drivers will find themselves getting of the line much more quickly and with markedly better consistency. Let's take a look at how the system works after the jump.
